AR/VR Forum: Driving digital innovation with immersive and wearable technology
HOUSTON - The Industrial AR/VR Forum, saw a conglomeration of leading AR/VR innovators and industry application specialists. Unlike typical AR/VR conferences, where leaders from the AR/VR community present advances in this technology, this forum was unique in focusing on the applications to the local Energy & Engineering Industry of Houston.
The event pivoted on driving digital innovation and revolutionizing industrial energy and engineering business with immersive and wearable technology.

Showcases and demonstrations by companies like Kognitiv spark, realwear, Deloitte Digital, Librestream, HTX Labs, ThridEye, Circuit Stream, DisTI, SNC-Lavalin, Arvizio, ITI VR, MACE Virtual labs highlighted the ongoing and potential applications of AR/VR and XR in advancing business operations and training.
Most of the speakers and their subsequent demos delved into mixed reality strategies and solutions for targeting key industry and business objectives of – reducing equipment downtimes, eliminating expert travels, enhancing knowledge and skills transfer, and empowering field operators with state of the art yet cost-effective hands-on training using AR/VR.
Some presenters emphasized transforming remote inspections and maintenance with AR/VR while some others projected the numerous future applications of augmented reality and wearable technology in driving safe industrial operations. A panel of experts discussed tools for successful implementation of AR/VR/XR strategies, while another speaker discussed challenges to be overcome in the application of immersive technology in the energy industry.
