York Capital Management’s dedicated private equity fund York Special Opportunities Fund II (collectively, “York Capital”) acquired a controlling interest in SGC Energia Co., LLC and the assets of Juniper GTL, LLC (“Juniper”).
Established in 2006 and based in Houston TX, SGC Energia Co., LLC, is one of North America’s leading small-scale GTL technology developers utilizing the Fischer-Tropsch (F-T) process. The company focuses on monetizing undervalued energy sources by transforming them into clean fuels and high-value chemicals.
Juniper, SGC Energia’s first commercial-scale 1,100 bpd facility, under construction in Westlake, LA, is expected to be fully operational in the second half of 2017. Juniper will convert natural gas into ultra-high quality, pure paraffinic waxes used in a broad spectrum of applications. The plant will also produce zero-sulfur light and middle distillates for use in the US transportation and chemicals industries.
