Explosion occurs at Pascagoula, Mississippi gas plant
6/28/2016
An explosion occurred last night at approximately 11:30pm local time inside the Pascagoula, Mississippi natural gas processing plant operated by Enterprise Products Partners (EPP). EPP said there were no injuries or casualties from the explosion.
This morning, firefighters were monitoring the fire and allowing any residual gas inside the building where the explosion took place to be consumed.
Because the explosion was contained inside a facility building, no evacuation was necessary.
The plant, currently run by EPP, was acquired from British Petroleum Plc (BP) earlier this month.
An investigation into the cause of the explosion has begun.
