RasGas marks milestone with 500th LNG cargo delivery to CPC, Taiwan
RasGas marked a milestone with the delivery of the 500th long-term LNG cargo to the company's customer, CPC Corporation, Taiwan (CPC), officials announced this weekend.
The 500th LNG cargo was loaded aboard CPC`s Taitar (TaiwanQatar) No. 4 vessel at Ras Laffan port on March 5, 2016, under the long-term sales and purchase agreement (SPA) between CPC Corp., Taiwan and Ras Laffan Liquefied Natural Gas Co. (II).
In 2011, Ras Laffan and CPC signed a second long-term supply agreement of LNG from RasGas, which increased the annual long term sales to over 5 MMtpy to CPC and Taiwan.
RasGas has also delivered 72 cargoes, or approximately 4.4 million tons of LNG, to CPC on a spot basis since 2007.
“As a long-term LNG supplier to CPC, RasGas is pleased to achieve this major milestone with our long-standing partners," said Khalid Sultan R. Al Kuwari, chief marketing and shipping officer at RasGas.
"We have come a long way since signing our first ever SPA with CPC in 2005," he added. "Last year, we extended the partnership to joint corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities with CPC through the ‘Energizing Education’ initiative. We look forward to continuing to grow our relationship with CPC and the people of Taiwan even further."
The ‘Energizing Education’ initiative benefitted nine local schools in Taichung, Taiwan, bringing tangible benefits to hundreds of students in the local community by providing improvements and upgrades to educational resources.
