Ukraine, Lithuania agree on long-term LNG supply via Klaipeda
Ukraine and Lithuania have reached an agreement on the long-term supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Ukraine via the Klaipeda terminal, Ukraine's Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko said on Monday while visiting Lithuania.
"It is important, that today during talks an agreement was reached on booking capacity for long-term LNG supply to Ukraine via Klaipeda port," Svyrydenko said.
LNG can be supplied by both U.S. and Middle Eastern producers, she wrote in a later Telegram post.
Ukraine has been forced to increase imports since Russia stepped up its attacks on the country's gas production late last year.
Speaking at a joint press conference alongside Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginiene, Svyrydenko also said that Ukraine has offered the use of its underground gas storage facilities.
