Ukraine to keep gas imports high on Wednesday
2/19/2025
Ukraine will reduce natural gas imports slightly to 25.8 MMm3 on Wednesday, down from a record high of 26.7 MMm3 on Tuesday, data provided by the operator of the state-run gas transmission system showed.
The gas import volume has increased almost tenfold since the start of February after a series of Russian missile attacks targeted Ukraine's gas facilities.
The Russian attacks have come during a period of severe frost, with temperatures across the country dropping to about –10°C (14°F).
With Ukraine using gas mainly for cooking and heating homes, analyst estimate that the fall in temperatures could increase daily gas consumption by a fifth.
