EPA adds landfill gas to US renewable fuels program

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) said natural gas from landfills that is compressed or liquefied can be classified as a cellulosic biofuel under the Renewable Fuel Standard, a decision that could boost the use of natural gas in vehicles.
The decision covers natural-gas fuels produced from biogas that comes from landfills, water-treatment facilities or farms. It also covers electricity produced from those sources.
The EPA issued two new rules about the RFS, as it also established procedures for handling any fraud in the system.
