MEIL Group awarded $225-MM gas project from Kuwait Oil Co.
MEIL Group has secured a $225.5-MM project from the Kuwait Oil Company for the design, construction, and operation of a new Gas Sweetening and Sulphur Recovery Facility in West Kuwait.
This advanced facility will process 120 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, removing hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide to produce cleaner, safer, and more efficient natural gas for Kuwait’s energy network.
The project includes a sulfur recovery unit with two trains, each capable of handling 100 tons per day, achieving nearly 99.9% Sulphur recovery efficiency. Developed on a Build–Own–Operate model, it will be completed within 790 days, followed by five years of operation and maintenance.
The purified gas will be transported through KOC’s pipeline network to the Mina Ahmadi Refinery, supporting Kuwait’s commitment to sustainable energy and environmental protection.
With this achievement, MEIL strengthens its footprint in the Middle East, reaffirming its expertise in complex hydrocarbon and refinery projects — including ongoing sulfur recovery units at the Rajasthan Refinery and the Mongol Refinery.
