Gasconsult Ltd. awarded patent in China for its ZR-LNG
UK based Gasconsult Ltd. announces award of a patent in China for its ZR-LNG liquefaction technology. This complements its current UK patent and pending applications in Australia, Canada, Europe, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico and the US.
ZR-LNG (Zero Refrigerant) achieves liquefaction without external refrigerants, using the feed natural gas in an optimized system of expanders. Elimination of external refrigerant infrastructure reduces cost, weight and footprint making the process well suited to FLNG. The absence of nitrogen or mixed hydrocarbon refrigerants makes the process particularly well suited for remote locations where refrigerant supply costs and logistics may be problematic.
ZR-LNG achieves a power demand equal or lower than Single Mixed Refrigerant processes and some 25% lower than dual nitrogen expander schemes.
Commenting on the award Bill Howe, CEO of Gasconsult said that this new award builds on Gasconsult’s objective of increasing its IP portfolio. Patent applications for newer variants of its technology, integrated Pressure Liquefaction (IPL) for low pressure feed gases and Integrated Heavies Removal (IHR) for low cost C5+ removal have also recently been submitted.
