Commonwealth LNG orders Baker Hughes turbo compressors for Louisiana (U.S.) export project
Commonwealth LNG has authorized an order for six Baker Hughes refrigerant turbo compressors to support its planned 9.5-metric MMtpy LNG export terminal in Cameron, Louisiana (U.S.).
The compressors will be powered by Baker Hughes LM9000 gas turbines, a technology designed to deliver lower carbon intensity and improved efficiency.
“This order represents a major milestone for our project as we advance toward final investment decision,” said Farhad Ahrabi, president and CEO of Commonwealth LNG. “The LM9000 technology aligns perfectly with our commitment to operational efficiency and environmental stewardship.”
The LM9000 turbine, Baker Hughes’ most powerful aeroderivative gas turbine, produces > 73 MW of power with 44% efficiency. The compact design is intended to speed installation, reduce emissions and improve reliability.
Ben Dell, managing partner of Kimmeridge and chairman of Caturus, added: “As we progress towards FID this year, this is yet another important milestone, in line with Commonwealth LNG's ambitious goals to deliver responsibly sourced low-emissions fuel to domestic and international markets for decades to come.”
The order will be placed through Technip Energies, which is leading engineering, procurement and construction for the facility (learn more). Commonwealth LNG and Caturus Energy, formerly Kimmeridge Texas Gas, are joint owners of the integrated gas and LNG export platform.
